Cyndi Lauper

With her distinct fashion sense and her fondness for coloring her hair, it’s safe to say Cyndi Lauper has had some fun wearing eye-catching costumes during red-carpet events and concerts. Besides that, though, there’s no denying that she is also, above all else, a talented singer. She already started writing songs when she was 12 years old. Not long after, she began her journey as a singer.

Her earlier stints as a vocalist were for cover bands. A few years later, she finally had the chance to release her very own songs and, in 1983, released her debut album She’s So Unusual. It was an instant hint, and Lauper has since garnered worldwide for records such as Change of Heart, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, and True Colors. Lauper takes credit for being the first woman to win a Tony for best original score by herself in the theater scene, thanks to her work as a composer for the musical, Kinky Boots.
